Last Friday we had our big CMAS Kick Off Rally. The kids and staff had a blast getting geared up for the tests. Silly races and relays made up only part of the celebration. Be sure to check out this year’s staff video made to keep student spirits high during the week. This year’s theme is: “Some wish for it. We work for it!”

If you have a 3rd-8th grader, please make sure they get a good night's sleep and breakfast every day. Testing sessions start at 8:30 am, so please try to arrive on time as well. If a student is sick, do not worry about them missing the test, as we will have make-up test dates. They will do much better if they are feeling good and healthy! Here is the schedule once again:

Teachers of the Month - The Intervention Team (Ms. Barnette, Ms. McCall, Ms. Tess)
 
Ms. Barnette, Ms. Tess, and Ms. McCall are our current Reading Interventionists at GVA-N. They meet daily with 50 plus students to work on improving their reading abilities. These three are consistently going above and beyond to help out the school with extra duties, flexible schedules, and teacher support. These three are committed to improving literacy at GVA-N and work hard with our struggling readers to get them caught up to grade level. We are thankful that they are part of our team and always have a willingness to try anything to help the students!
 
Staff Member of the Month - LeeAnn Kain
 
LeeAnn has been at GVA-N for many years and we depend on her for many things. Her busy season is starting with registering all our incoming Kindergarten students.She has many late nights ahead and we are so thankful for her incredible work ethic. Additionally, she works tirelessly over the summer months to ensure that all our current students are registered and ready to start school the following year. We are so lucky to have Ms. Kain!
 
Volunteers of the Month - Ned Bronson and Leslie Small
 
We have so many amazing volunteers that it is hard to choose just one every month! This month, we would like to recognize Mr. Ned Bronson and Mrs. Leslie Small for the countless hours they put in helping with our Odyssey of the Mind teams! Thank you for spending your afternoons making sure that our kids have the opportunity to participate in such a fun extracurricular activity!
 
Culture Fest
 
Don’t forget, this year’s Culture Fest is Saturday, May 4, 2019. Plan on bringing the whole family for performances and cultural celebration!
 
 
 
Queridos Padres de GVA,
 
CMAS empieza esta semana
 
El pasado viernes tuvimos nuestra gran Reunión de Empiezo de CMAS. Los alumnos y maestros se la pasaron muy bien cargando pilas para los exámenes. Carreras chistosas y relevos hicieron parte de la celebración. Este seguro de checar el video que hizo el personal de este año para motivar a los alumnos. El tema de este año es ¨Algunos lo quieren.Nosotros trabajamos por él¨.
 
Si tiene un alumno de 3o-8o grado, asegúrese que duerma bien y tenga un almuerzo cada día. Las sesiones de exámenes comenzarán a las 8:30am, por favor trate de llegar a tiempo también. Si el estudiante se enferma, no se preocupe que falte a los exámenes, que tendremos días de reponer las pruebas. Ellos harán un mejor desempeño si se sienten bien y están sanos.

Ms. Barnette, Ms. Tess, y Ms. McCall son nuestras intervencionistas de lectura actuales en GVA-N. Ellas se reúnen a diario con 50 o más estudiantes a trabajar en mejorar sus habilidades de lectura. Ellas tres siempre van más allá constantemente para ayudar a la escuela con trabajos extras, horarios flexibles, y apoyo al maestro. Están comprometidas en mejorar la lectura en GVA-N y trabajan duro con los que están batallando para ponerlos a nivel del grupo. Estamos agradecidos que son parte de nuestro personal y que siempre están dispuestas a ayudar a nuestros alumnos.

LeeAnn ha estado en GVA-N por muchos a{os y dependemos de ella en mucho. Su ocupada temporada está empezando en registrar todos los niños de Kinder nuevos. Va a tener muchos días largos por venir y también estamos agradecidos por su ética de trabajo. Adicionalmente trabaja duro durante los meses de verano para asegurarse que todos nuestros actuales estudiantes están registrados y listos para comenzar el próximo año escolar. Tenemos suerte en tenerla.
 
Voluntarios del Mes- Ned Bronson y Leslie Small
 
Tenemos tantos voluntarios maravillosos que es difícil escoger solo uno cada mes. Este mes queremos reconocer al Sr. Ned Bronson y a Leslie Small por las horas incontables que pusieron en ayudar con nuestros equipos de Odyssey of the Mind! Gracias por pasar sus tardes asegurándose que nuestros alumnos tuvieran la oportunidad de participar en esta actividad extracurricular tan divertida.
 
No se les olvide este año nuestro Festival Cultural es el sábado, 4 de mayo de 2019. Planee traer a toda la familia para disfrutar de las presentaciones y una Celebración Cultural!!!
