GT Professional Team

Global Village Academy, in order to holistically view students with exceptional gifts beyond their age and peers, has a multi-disciplinary team that reviews data and discusses student’s strengths and needs. The team consists of:

  • General Education (Immersion & English) Teachers
  • Gifted & Talented Coordinator
  • Individual(s) that can interpret data
  • Administrators
  • Parents

During team meetings, pertinent test data to include Ability, Achievement, student portfolios, and parent/teacher questionnaires are used to determine eligibility for Gifted and Talented. If the student is determined to meet the criteria as determined by the State of Colorado, an Advanced Learning Plan is created to begin in third grade. An Advanced Learning Plan (ALP) is a confidential educational record that is monitored on a secure data base system. An Advanced Learning Plan (ALP) is “a written record of gifted and talented programming utilized with each gifted child and considered in educational planning and decision making,” (1 CCR 301-8, ECEA Rules 12.01). The ALP will identify goals to support student acceleration, differentiation of instruction (pace, depth, complexity), extensions of curricula, affective grouping with like peers. The team reconvenes and reviews the ALP on an annual basis.
