While tests like these are sometimes daunting and stressful, it is important to remember that these assessments are purely informational. There is no punishment for scoring lower than what we hope for, only lessons to be learned for moving forward. Please assure your children of this and encourage them to continue trying even when questions get difficult. We only want to know what they understand and whether the content needs to be revisited or if students are ready to move on to the next steps. Results of mid-year iReady assessments will be emailed to parents (from teachers), along with report cards by January 21st. Be on the lookout for these documents!
Don’t forget that this Wednesday is an Early Release Day. Despite the fact that we are in a less than ideal learning situation, please keep in mind that these days are still important for teacher training. For example, this week’s Early Release Day will allow our English teachers to receive training on a new, robust reading program that we will be implementing in an effort to close any learning gaps caused by COVID-19. Our Spanish teachers will also be receiving training on a new curriculum that will supplement the immersion instruction that we have already established. These are just two examples of how hard your teachers continue to work even when they aren’t directly interacting with students!
Return to School Plans
While nothing has changed significantly in the last week, we would like to reiterate that we are currently planning for a February 1st return to in-person learning. Please keep in mind that this must still be approved by the Board of Directors first at the January 20th meeting.

¡Ha llegado el momento de nuestras evaluaciones de mitad de año! Si bien pruebas como estas a veces son abrumadoras y estresantes, es importante recordar que estas evaluaciones son puramente informativas. No hay castigo por obtener una puntuación más baja de lo que esperamos, solo lecciones que aprender para seguir adelante. Asegúreles esto a sus hijos y anímelos a seguir intentándolo incluso cuando las preguntas se pongan difíciles. Solo queremos saber qué entienden y si el contenido necesita ser revisado o si los estudiantes están listos para seguir los siguientes pasos. No olvide que este miércoles es un día de salida anticipada. A pesar de que nos encontramos en una situación de aprendizaje menos que ideal, tenga en cuenta que estos días siguen siendo importantes para la formación de los profesores. Por ejemplo, el Día de Salida Temprana de esta semana permitirá a nuestros maestros de inglés recibir capacitación sobre un nuevo y sólido programa de lectura que implementaremos en un esfuerzo por cerrar cualquier brecha de aprendizaje causada por COVID-19. Nuestros profesores de español también recibirán capacitación sobre un nuevo plan de estudios que complementará la instrucción de inmersión que ya hemos establecido. Estos son solo dos ejemplos de lo duro que continúan trabajando sus profesores incluso cuando no están interactuando directamente con los estudiantes.
Planes de regreso a la escuela
Si bien nada ha cambiado significativamente en la última semana, nos gustaría reiterar que actualmente estamos planeando un regreso el 1 de febrero al aprendizaje en persona. Tenga en cuenta que esto aún debe ser aprobado por la Junta Directiva primero en la reunión del 20 de enero.
