The staff has been working hard to prepare for the arrival of 1st-8th grades this Wednesday! We are excited for a new year and new opportunities for teaching and learning.Don’t forget to stop by this afternoon/evening from 4:00 pm-6:00 pm for Meet the Teacher Night.
 
Communications Improvements
Last year, our School Accountability Committee (SAC) conducted an online survey about school to parent communication. The results were informative and have led to some changes in an effort to continue to improve this area of our school. A brief summary of the results can be seen below:
 
  • 65% of respondents feel GVA-N Administration effectively communicates information about academics and student achievement.
  • 82% of respondents feel GVA-N Administration effectively communicates information about school events.
  • 85% of respondents feel GVA-N Administration effectively communicates information about school closures and emergencies.
  • 81% of respondents feel GVA-N Administration effectively communicates general school information.
  • Email and text are the preferred forms for communication
 
A very telling portion of the survey indicated that many elementary parents do not like/ are not using Schoology as a form of communication. As a result, Schoology will be used by only 6th-8th grades going forward. Schoology will continue to house grades and daily agendas for 6th-8th grades, but elementary teachers will not use the application at all. Instead, we have developed a more user friendly school application called Flyer School. The new app will deliver essential information, accept your feedback, and be the center of our school’s resources. It also has a language choice feature so you can choose the language in which you receive the information.
 
 
 
Follow these steps to setup your app correctly:
  • Search “Flyer School” in the Apple or Google play store or visit https://www.flyerconnect.org/app
  • Once you’ve installed the Flyer School app push the “+” button and search for GLOBAL VILLAGE ACADEMY NORTHGLENN and select “add”.
  • Families can tap the Language button on the Bottom left of the screen to select their preferred language.
  • Tap our School to view School Content
 
You are now connected to our school app and will receive all school wide communication. The great news about this application is that it will house important school information such as calendars, forms, ways to pay for supplies, etc… in addition to sending push notifications that can be configured within the application. Please note that teachers were trained on the app last Friday, so there is very little teacher content at the moment. However, in the future, this will be an additional way you can reach out to teachers and receive information from both teachers and the school.

La semana pasada ha estado llena de caras frescas y cargadas de energía. El personal ha estado trabajando duro preparando la llegada de los grados 1o-8o este Miércoles! Estamos emocionados por un nuevo año y nuevas oportunidades para enseñar y aprender. No se les olvide venir este Lunes 12 de Agosto, a conocer a los maestros de 4 a 6 pm.
 
Mejoras de comunicación del año pasado
El Comité de Responsabilidades de la Escuela (SAC) condujo una encuesta en línea acerca de la comunicación de escuela hacia padres. Los resultados fueron informativos y nos llevaron a realizar algunos cambios en el esfuerzo para mejorar esta área en la escuela. Un breve resumen de los resultados pueden verse aquí abajo:
 
El 65% de los que respondieron sienten que la Administración de GVA se comunica eficientemente acerca del desempeño del estudiante.
El 85% de los que respondieron sienten que la Administración de GVA se comunica efectivamente acerca de los cierres y emergencias de la escuela.
El 81% de los que respondieron sienten que la Administración de GVA se comunica eficientemente en general con información de la escuela.

  • Busquen “Flyer School” en la App Store o Google Play o vistahttps://www.flyerconnect.org/app
